Tools
I haven't forgotten the computer science education I got before switching to music. I occasionally put it to good use, developing little tools to aid in my music training. You'll find them here as I clean them up, all user-friendly-like.
Interval Trainer
I wrote this tool to help me memorize interval names between notes. It's not ear training; there's no sound. It's mind training.
Triad Trainer
Similar to the Interval Trainer, this shows three note names, and your job is to identify the triad they constitute.

Hey Joe... I'm Malia's dad. She sent me your site and I am very impressed with your dedication. You certainly can't go wrong with ears filled with Vai and Coltrane. No matter what I've done in life, it seems I still see myself as a bass player. I hope your journey is filled with massive grooves, cool changes to solo over... and hopefully enough money to keep going. Time in the "shed" is never wasted. It's what sets your life apart from everyone else - so you can hear what others can't hear and create for others to enjoy. So even though your Mudd classmates may be making money and advancing in their studied fields - don't get discouraged or doubt yourself... yours is a different groove. (maybe like Tom Scholz from Boston?)
